About a year ago, I felt God putting something on my heart…

Start a night service for people who can’t come to church on Sunday mornings.

It wasn’t just a passing thought. I felt burdened by it. Like God was asking me to take a step, and if I didn’t, I might miss something He wanted to do.

So we started Night Church.

Most weeks, there are six to twelve of us. That includes me, along with Darrel or Jeff helping with AV.

Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with this little service.

I love these people. Most of them can’t come on Sunday mornings, but they still want to be at church. They want to be in the room with other people worshiping, praying, learning, and walking through life together.

Sometimes people ask why we keep doing it for so few people.

This is why.

Someone from Night Church asked if we could meet up. We sat and talked about a lot of things, and eventually the conversation came to something that really mattered.

“I don’t know what would happen to me if I died today.”

When a person trusts you enough to share something like that, you slow down. You listen… And then I got to tell them about Jesus.

We talked. We prayed. And today, they gave their life to Him.

I’m still trying to find the words for the moment.

You could see the weight lift off them.

This is someone I’ve come to know and care about. Someone who had just shared such a deep uncertainty with me. And then I got to watch them put their faith in Jesus.

A year ago, I didn’t know this day was coming. I didn’t know who would walk through those doors or what conversations we would have. I just knew God had put something on my heart, and I needed to be faithful with it.

I think we sometimes look at a room, count how many people showed up, and let that number decide how much it matters.

But every person in that room has a life. A story. Questions they may have carried for years. Things they may be afraid to say out loud.

Every one of them matters to God… And today, one of them found hope in Jesus.

That’s why we keep doing Night Church.

You never know what God is going to do with a near empty room and a few people who are willing to take the next faithful step.

God is so good. All the time.
